2023 Conference

The Lithic Studies Society returns with our first in-person conference in four years, to be held at the Roman Circus Visitor Centre in Colchester.

In the wake of the pandemic, research has resumed apace and there are many new discoveries, analyses and approaches to be shared and discussed in the lithics community.

About The Conference

27th - 28th October 2023

Roman Circus Centre, Colchester

The conference will consist of in-person and online talks from researchers working with lithics across the world. From new sites to new techniques, from 3D scanning to geochemical analyses, our speakers showcase the range of lithics-related research taking place right now.

Friday's talks will be followed by a wine reception where delegates will have full access to explore the exhibits of the Roman Circus Visitor Centre.

Remembering Hazel

Part of the conference will also be dedicated to the memory of Hazel Martingell, lithics expert, illustrator, and founder member of the LSS.
