The format of the Festival consists of pre-recorded talks of around 15 minutes, which are organised into sessions and released throughout the week. The majority of these talks will continue to be available after the event.
Unlike previous years we will also be hosting discussion sessions to make the process more interactive, these will take place at the end of the sessions.
If you want to follow the talks live with us on Twitter you can visit our account @lithicsociety or follow the hashtag #LithicsFestival23.
We welcome presentations of all types from research style talks to less traditional content, such as site videos. The festival provides a great platform to present more discursive research or ideas in their formative stages. It is also suitable for those giving their first research talks or presenting something for feedback.
Topics that we would consider but are not restricted to:
You can submit a presentation proposal to festival@lithics.org. We will review your submission and let you know whether your proposal has been accepted. Unfortunately, we cannot accept presentations that contain unauthorised excavation, artefacts that have not been registered with an official body such as the Portable Antiquities Scheme, and any videos that contain offensive or discriminatory language or behaviour.
Videos should be around 15-20 minutes in length, but we can be flexible if you are over or under the time limit. These must be emailed to the committee at festival@lithics.org at least one week before the conference begins.
